Prototype

Save the Sensitivity

First Prototype

Experimenting with Tactility

The following prototype was created with the desire to “save the sensitivity”. A exploration of sensorial reinforcement translated into a tool. Each graphite rod was manually sculpted  after a careful inspection of the sensorial feedback. The prototype was tested for a year to see its durability, its confort level and size versatility.

Second Prototype

Focusing on Fitting and Adjusting the size

The second prototype was created to explore the possible systems of resizing the joints of the glove in order to adapt to every hand tipology – from children to adults. It also brings colour customization, feature that will be further developed in the next prototype.

Third Prototype

The final prototype was created in order to optimize the shape and the ergonomics of the glove. It continues to explore the advantages of colour customization in the art and therapeutical sectors. The material used is PET-G, a very suitable choice for the frame that holds the rods. The sockets have a tolerance of 0.13 mm and the graphite rods can be changed quickly and easily.

MADE TO MEASURE

At the moment, MINA is made out of PET-G plastic that is rigid and every unit has to be carefully shaped around individual hands. Using this kind of material makes the creation a relatively slow process and the error tolerance is low. The next step is to use TPE ( ThermoPlastic Elastomer ). Using the elasticity feature of the TPE will make the glove stick to the hand and every stroke will be accurate. Also the shocks will be absorbed and transfered from the graphite rod to the glove shell.

FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE

It’s all about the colour!

“The fusion of colours, ambiences, temperatures, light, atmospheres, surfaces, the volumes, their faces and perspective: colours are not matter, but chromatisms: chromatic spectrum. You exist for me because my sensitive retina receives reflections of your chromatisms, matter called flesh when light reflects off it.”

Enric Ruiz-Geli

“Quality of matter that allows it to reflector let pass certain rays of light and absorb others, producing in the eye a specific chromatic sensation.”
